I was born in Arlington, Tx in the year 2002 and moved out to Haslet, Tx in 2008. Upon moving here I was immediately "welcomed" to the city with unjustified judgment and prejudice due to me and my family being one of the very few African American families in the community. This along with the many moments of racist remarks caused me to develop a mask for my peers so I would not be ridiculed, but sadly this also caused me to also slightly lose touch with my own ethnicity as a black woman for a short time, I was often referred to as sounding " so white" or "you talk so proper and polite I'm shocked". Over time I slowly developed into my own person but the code-switching very much still occurs depending on whom I'm talking to and I am sure that it will more than likely stick with me for the rest of time.

Even though I have experienced hardships, my main goal with my art is to create characters that look like me for future generations to look up to on television one day. I had very few black characters that I was able to look up to, and sadly the few I did on tv shows ended up leaning into stereotypical black and sassy girl who gossips and hardly anything outside of that bubble. Where I want to eventually take my artistic talents is to be part of a creative team for an animated feature film,series or video game to help create more representation for black children to look up to.
